Thanks for your comments. I actually like the future you describe better in many ways. But, I tend to believe that the economics, safety and system efficiency will significantly favor transportation as a service. Even with the cost of drivers, taking public transportation and occasionally an Uber/Lyft instead of owning a vehicle is already cheaper in most cities and increasingly in many surrounding communities. Purpose built autonomous vehicles will probably increase this spread.
